Research Service

General Enquiries: Armidale Family History Group Inc., offers a Research Service to people who are unable to visit Armidale. The initial cost is $30.00 Australian per enquiry payable in advance by cheque or money order; this includes return postage. For this fee we will research one surname in the resources we hold in our Library.

Please download and complete the attached form to tell us as concisely as possible, exactly who it is you would like us to research. The completed form, together with your cheque or money order, should then be posted to:

The Secretary, Armidale Family History Group,

P.O. Box 1378, Armidale NSW 2350 Australia

If you have already obtained some certificates, it would be helpful if you could provide us with dates and places of births, deaths or marriages, and any relevant names from the certificates. Please provide as much of this information as possible so that we can be sure we are searching for the correct person.

Depending on the request, volunteers will search a variety of resources in our Library which include: Armidale Cemetery transcriptions, family and local histories, "Dust of Ages" (journal of Armidale Family History Group Inc.), Armidale and District Historical Society Journals and Armidale Family History Group's personality and place files.

We include up to five (5) pages of photocopying in our $30 charge, but if more material is found, each additional A4 page will be charged at a rate of 20 cents but we will not exceed an additional $5 without your authorization.

All research requests are handled in the order in which they are received. Please be patient as our Research Service depends on the goodwill of our volunteers and their available free time. We regret that we are unable to undertake any requests falling outside the above guidelines.

Armidale Cemetery Look-ups: There is no fee for this service but please supply a stamped addressed envelope. However, if your list exceeds four names we ask for a small donation to our ‘Resource Fund’.
